How Are You Spending Today, the End of the World?

Are you doing anything to prepare for what some are calling "the end of the world?"

I heard someone say they were getting lots and lots of s'mores in case there is lots of fire.

Do you know anyone having an end of the world party?

A Weed is a plant whose virtues have not been discovered!

A Weed is a plant whose virtues have not been discovered!

I have always loved flowers. My winter months are spent pouring over gardening magazines and books, or  gazing at one of the many flower and bulb catalogs I get in the mail.   Spring finally arrives and there I am digging, planting, and fertilizing all my precious purchases anxiously awaiting for them to show some life.  I check on my seedlings and bulbs every morning  until one day, I see something green emerging  from the cold ground.  Is it the daffodils I planted or maybe the pink peony that has erupted from the soil? No, it is a....... WEED!  I get angry and yank it  up. How dare a weed sprout where I have planned  my perfect garden to be?   I discovered that for every weed I pulled, many others would grow fast and furiously to take its place.   Now, I lost interest in my flowers after my constant fight with the weeds.

Redistricting Hearing Set for Macon on June 13

Macon-area residents can speak out next month on changes in the state's voting districts.

State lawmakers have launched a series of hearings around the state on redistricting.

One is scheduled for Monday, June 13 in Macon. It begins at 5 p.m. in the Mercer University School of Medicine Auditorium at 1550 College St.

State legislators this year will redraw congressional and state legislative district lines, based on new U.S. Census numbers.

Georgia is set to gain a seat in Congress.

Some state officials say redistricting may mean more districts in Metro Atlanta, where the population is growing, and fewer in parts of Central Georgia, where population is stagnant or shrinking.

Gov. Nathan Deal has said he will summon state lawmakers back to the Capitol on Aug. 15 for a special session to tackle redistricting.
