Congratulations to the Washington County High School boys cross country team on their back-to-back-to-back Region Championship. This is the Golden Hawks’ seventh region title in the last eight years under the leadership of Coach Carlos Hope. Jacob Burgamy was the Golden Hawks’ top runner and 2014 Region 3-AAA Individual Champion with a course and school record of 15:59. Marcus Cannon was the 2014 Region Runner-Up, while Jamarion Tucker placed 6th to earn First Team All-Region, along with Burgamy and Cannon. Eddie Swint, Issac Lewis, Dwayne Gundy, and Renard Sanford rounded out the scoring for the Golden Hawks.  The Golden Hawks will compete in the 3A Championship in Carrollton Nov. 8th. The Golden Hawks will run at 9:10 am and the Lady Hawks will run at 9:50.

The Lady Hawks took the region crown as well, making them back-to-back champions. Thursday’s victory marks the third time in 6 years they have topped the region under the leadership of coach Sug Parker. Ashlee Dixon took the 3-AAA Individual Champion title, which makes her back-to-back Region Individual Champion. Team members contributing to the team win were Ashlee Dixon, 1st place, Nia Johnson 3rd place, Nijeria Jordan 4th place, Courtney Johnson 5th place, Aniah Poole 7th place, Khadijah Sanders 8th place, and Kasashi Wells 9th place. The Lady Hawks have advanced to state competition six consecutive years. The Lady Hawks will compete in the 3-AAA Championship in Carrollton Nov. 8th with a 9:50 start time.
