Art Show to Raise Funds for Scholarships

 

Tennille Fine Arts Club hosts "On Track with the Visual Arts," a show that'll feature pottery, photography, painting, woodcarving, needlepoint and folk art.  

That's on Saturday, March 2, at the Oconee RESA Building in Tennille, GA.  Tickets are

Admission is $3 and the show opens from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Proceeds from the show will be used for scholarships.

Dance craze has roots in the '80s More than 4,000 'Harlem Shake' videos a day are posted on YouTube.

The song that spurred the craze is No. 10 on iTunes Gangnam Style is so last year: 2013's new dance craze is the Harlem Shake.

The Recording Academy announced a new award Sunday on The 55th GRAMMYs Award Show.

Students can nominate teachers for the "GRAMMY's Music Educators Award."

Fill out this form, telling the Recording Academy who it is and where to reach them.

If you're a school administrator nominating a music educator, use this form.

The deadline is April 15, 2013. The form says that the teacher will then have to fill out an application after your nomination. Be sure to give teachers plenty of time before the April 15 deadline.

The Tennille Fine Arts Club will host an art show entitled "On Track with the Visual Arts" on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Oconee RESA Building from 11-3.    

Entry fee is $15 and all types of art are 

Admission to the show is $3. 

Sanner Excels in Fine Arts

Sanner Excels in Fine Arts

Congratulations Washington County High School 10th grade band member Justin Sanner for making the 2013 Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) 9-10 grade All-State Band on tuba!

He will rehearse and perform in Savannah,  February 28 – March 2 at the civic center in preparation for a free concert on March 2 at 7 p.m.

Justin excels as a student in  the WCHS Fine Arts Department where he actively participates in band, drama, chorus, strings, jazz band, and even composes music. Justin serves as this years Low Brass Section Leader with the Golden Hawk Marching Band and he is 1st Chair Tuba in the Symphonic Band.

This past December, Justin began his All-State Band audition process at the district level where he also earned 2nd chair tuba for the GMEA District 10, 9-10 grade Honor Band. The concert will be at West Acres Baptist Church in Evans on Cox Road, Feb. 9th at 2:30 p.m.

Georgia College Homecoming Concert Lineup Announced

Country artist Jerrod Nieman and country band Gloriana are set to perform at Georgia College's homecoming concert.
