WCHS Entrepreneurial Class Jumpstarts Relay for Life Fundraising

The entrepreneurial class at Washington County High School recently proved that applying what they are learning in class can lead to great profit! They successfully developed strategies for a t-shirt sale to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month raising $2,250 which will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s local Relay for Life.

The team of 14 students led by teacher Jennifer Tatum developed a marketing plan that included sales to students, teachers, and the community with a goal of selling 200 shirts. Team members Bryce Sheppard and Morgan Lindsey assisted with the graphic design component of the project using classroom computers. The slogan, “Real Hawks wear pink” appeared on the front of the shirt which was offered in several colors.

WCHS One-Act Team Wins Region Then Takes 3rd in State

WCHS One-Act Team Wins Region Then Takes 3rd in State

The Washington County High School One-Act team under the direction of Dr. Dan Robbins captured the region championships in early October and went on to take 3rd place Nov. 3 in state competition performing Pinocchio Commedia by Johnny Simons. Josh Hill won Best Actor, Layla Pendley won Best Actress,  and Lauren Sheppard was selected to All Star Cast.

In this hilarious version, a troupe of commedia actors attempt to tell the story of the poor woodcarver Geppetto and his beloved wooden puppet Pinocchio. The ringleader of the troupe, Arlecchino, who portrays the Cricket, narrates the tale and keeps the ragtag actors in line, especially the Fool. Pedrolina the Fool is a lovable but clueless character that somehow manages to cause chaos wherever he goes. So, come join the Cricket, Fool, Geppetto, the conniving Fox, witless Cat, evil Puppetmaster, beautiful Spirit, clown chorus, and of course, Pinocchio as he attempts to become a real boy.
