A law firm plans to host a public forum on the current state of Plant Washington.

Hosted by GreenLaw, that meeting happens Wednesday, May 21 at 6 p.m. at New Light Christian Fellowship Church in Warthen, according to a release.

Tens of thousands without power in Central Georgia

Tens of thousands of people are without power in Central Georgia this morning.

About 10,000 people are without power in Bibb County, 10,000 people in Baldwin County and more than 500 in Jones County, according to Georgia Power's map alone.

More than 11,000 of Washington EMC's 15,000 customers don't have power due to blown transformers and downed trees. Washington EMC services Washington, Johnson, Hancock, Baldwin, Warren, Laurens, Emanuel, Glascock, Jefferson, and Wilkinson counties.

Ice storm brings power outages

Georgia utility companies say more than 177,000 customers were without power as ice coated trees brought branches and power lines down.

Georgia Power reported that more than 104,000 customers were without power shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

More than 71,000 of them were in metro Atlanta. Another 29,000 customers were in eastern Georgia; and 1,340 were without power in parts of west Georgia.

Winter storm watch for Central Georgia

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for all of central Georgia beginning Tuesday morning until Wednesday afternoon.

A wintry mix is expected for central and southern parts of the state beginning Tuesday afternoon. Rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow are likely Tuesday evening until Wednesday morning.

Planned roadway maintenance in Washington County

Drivers are asked to watch for mowers and roadway maintenance as they take designated routes Monday through Wednesday.

According to a GDOT release, these are the area with scheduled work:

City to hold delinquent tax sale

The City of Sandersville plans to hold a delinquent tax sale at City Hall's front steps for 2012 delinquent taxes. 

The event is planned for Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m.
