Pollen Count 'High' in the Macon Area

Pollen Count 'High' in the Macon Area

Some mixed news for allergy sufferers:

While the tree pollen count is still high at 1420, that's down from last Wednesday's 3,600 count, according to Dr. Plaxico's Allergy and Asthma Clinic in Macon.

Weeds and grass pollen count is now in the moderate range. That count is up from last week when the weed pollen was absent and the grass count was observed as low.

Local Volunteer Firefighters Need Your Vote to Win Grant

Local Volunteer Firefighters Need Your Vote to Win Grant

All-volunteer Deepstep Fire Department in Washington County needs your help.

They're in the running to win a grant contest from State Farm Insurance, but they need your Facebook vote.

The grant would land the fire department new equipment such as a four-wheel drive SUV for first responders and rescue calls. That'd be a $25,000 grant.

Forty out of 200 competitors will win a grant.
