Washington County's Civil War commemorating the 150th anniversary

CGTC Board of Directors Chair elected

CGTC Board of Directors Chair elected

Houston County retired superintendent was also elected to the vice chair position for 2014-2015.

Twiggs County resident and retired educator, Sarah Hawthorne, was named as the chair of CGTC's Board of Directors.

According to a release, she also served as the vice chair of the Board in the past year, when CGTC and MGTC merged.

She'll serve a one-year term.

CGTC's board of directors is comprised of a group of business leaders from the eleven counties CGTC serves in Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Dooly, Houston, Jones, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam and Twiggs counties.

 

Road mowing planned for Washington County this week

Road mowing planned for Washington County this week

Maintenance crews plan to mow along State Routes 231 and 24 this week.

That's planned for mile posts 0-17 and 0-15, respectively, according to a release.

Watch out for mowers between 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The City of Davisboro has a 4th of July celebration planned for Saturday, June 28.

That'll be from 10 a.m. until, with the main events happening in the center of downtown Davisboro.

A fireworks exhibition completes the evening around 9:30 p.m.

Derby Day in Sandersville

Derby Day in Sandersville

May 3, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. join in on the Kentucky Derby viewing with cocktails and traditional Kentucky fare.

Tickets are $50 per person. Event proceeds to benefit the Washington County Concert Association and Sandersville Music Club.

Help out Forest Grove Farm in Sandersville by showing up to help with a few tasks in exchange for a Subway lunch.

Sunday, you can show up to help compost leaves, add amendments and mulching.

Their longtime helper has "health problems," and therfore are behind on spring chores, according to a post on cropmobgeorgia.com

A caravan leaves Milledgeville at 8:30 a.m.
