WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. - Justin Braswell, the top runner at Washington County High School and one of the top runners in his area will run for the Skyhawks the next four years.
Braswell, who ran 17:51 at the 2013 cross country state championships on the hilly Carrollton course and ran a 17:20 at the Waco Invitational as well as a 17:32 at the region 3AAA meet will be counted on immediately to contribute for the Skyhawks.
"It has been a pleasure to get to know Justin," said head coach Michael Caldwell. "He is a very high academic student and talented runner. When I was asked to be the men's coach three years ago, the prototypical runner I wanted on my team was just like Justin"
Carlos Hope, Justin's high school coach, is proud to have been able to coach the future Skyhawk.
"Point University is getting one of Washington County's finest. We are very proud of Justin," said Hope. "He has been a true leader and the foundation of our cross country program the last three years. He is a true example of how hard work pays off. He is a tremendous runner, but an even better person. It has been a honor to be his coach."
Q and A with Justin Braswell
Q: Why did you decide to attend Point University?
A: I like the small class size where you can get to learn and understand your professors. I also felt welcomed at the campus and how it has an "at home" feeling. Lastly, because of the great young cross-country program that can do great things in the future and I want to be a part of that.
Q: What do you plan to major in and what do you plan on doing with that degree?
A: Exercise science, I want to go to a physical therapy school after Point. Then, I want to obtain a job at a physical therapy practice or own my own practice/business.
Q: What are your some of your goals you hope to accomplish at Point University?
A: I want to graduate with a degree in exercise science, earn academic All- Conference and academic All-American, be on the all freshman team, become a great addition to the team and help the team reach great lengths during my four seasons running.
