My Teacher is Tops: Christina Andrews | News
Many of Ms. Christina Andrews students can describe their social studies teacher in three words.
"She's nice, and she's caring and kind," says Ridge Road Elementary student N'Kayla Hurst.
It's those traits that lead Isaiah Eppes to nominate her for the My Teacher is Tops award.
In his nomination letter he wrote, "One day in class we had to make a picture out of clay. I made a picture that said 'I love you Ms. Andrews.' Ms. Andrews looked at the picture she gave me a hug. This is why my teacher is tops."
Whether it's reading, science, or social studies, her students say she uses that same caring approach when it comes to teaching.
One of them, Logan Wright, says, "I like that she never just gives us work and tells us to do it. She always explains the answers and goes over the tests."
Andrews says she tries to teach them about more than just Indian tribes and historic wars.
She says, "I want them to learn how to care for others. I want them to leave my room with basic skills, of course, the science and social studies, but also how to care for each other, how to interact with each other, how to build relationships."
