How to Write for 13WMAZ's Where You Live

Where You Live is WMAZ's hyperlocal feature. This means that we are helping bring you more community-specific news more often.

We have websites for these communities:

Dooly-Macon County
Warner Robins
obins AFB

These community websites are a place for you and your community members to share information.

To join our team and share with folks just like yourself, all you have to do is email us your email address and name whereyoulive@13wmaz.com

From there, we set up an account for you. This account lets you log in to your community site and post photo galleries, concerts, community events, 100th birthday parties, your concerns, latest creative projects, how-to advice and anything else you want people in your area to know.

Once you have an account, here are some examples of how you can stay involved Where You Live:

  • Are you that person who always takes photos at the high school's football games or at community festivals?  You can log in with your new account and create a gallery to show off your photos on our site.

  • Where You Live is your space for public conversation.  Feel free to comment on others' articles. New ideas can crop up just from simple conversations with others.
  • See something bizarre around town? Take a (cell phone) photo and post it to your community site! Maybe someone else will know the background story.
  • Add an event to our community calendar. Click "Add an Event"  on your community site's event section.
  • Like" us on Facebook to include your local news, breaking news and weather warnings and watches in your Facebook feed.
  • Follow us on Twitter for breaking news and weather updates.

Benjamin Freeman Garrett

Mr. Benjamin Freeman Garrett, 77 of Blackshear, GA, formerly of Chester, NY, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013, in Middletown, NY after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Sandersville, GA on May 5, 1935, he had lived in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and had moved to Blackshear three years ago from Nahunta where he had lived for ten years. He was a 1954 graduate of Nahunta High School and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Carrie Irene Johnson Wheeler

Carrie Irene Johnson Wheeler, age 91, passed away on February 24, 2013 at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon. A Memorial service will be held at Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street on February 27, 2013 at 12:00PM, with The Reverends Jody and Julie Long officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, North Gate. Ms. Wheeler was born on April 12, 1921 in Sparta, Georgia and graduated from Sparta High School in 1939. She moved to Macon in 1947 where she was employed at Robins AFB in what was then the Directorate of Procurement. Ms. Wheeler was a member of the First Baptist Church of Christ and the Believer’s Sunday School Class. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, crafts, gardening, and shopping. She was an avid bridge player and a regular follower of Atlanta Braves baseball. Ms.

Patricia Sue Jones Mullis


MRS. PATRICIA SUE JONES MULLIS, age 65, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, Macon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, February 18, at Solid Rock Church of God, with Rev. Tim Hicks and Rev. Myron Parkerson officiating, with interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Mullis was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a member of Solid Rock Church of God, a retired civil service employee for Robins Air Force Base and a loving Wife, Mother & Grandmother.  She was daughter of the late Orrie Teresa Wooten Jones & Jackson Ivory Jones.
