Tennille, Washington Co. Receive Community Improvement Grants

The City of Tennille received a community development block grant for $500,000 worth of water improvements.

That's according to a news release from Governor Deal's office.

Washington County received $500,000 for drainage and street improvements.

Governor Deal announced Friday that more than $38.8 million in federal assistance from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was awarded to the state's Community Development Block Program.

The CDBG program is administered by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), which uses funds allocated through HUD to support local initiatives that focus on improving living conditions and economic opportunities, the release says.
