Online Survey Helps GDOT Connect Central Georgia

Georgia Department of Transportation is conducting an online survey to determine Central Georgia's transportation needs.

The purpose of the study: 

 this study will be the first holistic look at traffic and goods movement across this portion of the state and will build off of the accomplishments and lessons learned from previous transportation studies. The study includes thorough analysis of operational and capacity needs to improve safety, freight movements, person mobility, and connectivity across Central Georgia through the year 2035.

New to the Kaolin Festival: Mine Tours

One of the biggest celebrations in Sandersville takes place this week and climaxes this weekend: the Kaolin Festival.

With the celebration centering around Kaolin, the mineral, this year festival-goers can learn more about the Kaolin Mine in Sandersville by taking the Kaolin mine tour!

This is the first time mine tours will be offered during the festival.

The bus tour is free, but you must have a ticket to ride. Tickets can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce.

Bus tours of the Roughton Mine are at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
